“WELCOME TO  NATIONAL SPORTS COUNCIL OF TANZANIA”

HISTORY  OF NATIONAL SPORTS COUNCIL

The National Sports Council of Tanzania was enacted by the Act of the Parliament of the United Republic of Tanzania No: 12 of 1967 and its amendments Act No: 6 of 1971. The act gives the council a supreme power to supervise all kind of sports in the country both professional and amateur.

FUNCTIONS OF NATIONAL SPORTS COUNCIL

The National Council of Tanzania is responsible for the following functions:
  •  To develop, promote and control all forms of sports on a national basis in collaboration with sports organizations
  • To encourage and facilitate cooperation among the various national sports associations/federations
  •  To arrange with local authorities for provision of sporting facilities at all levels and,
  •  To plan and advise the Ministry responsible for sports on the general policy of sports promotion in the country
